Our Spring Nature Walk – Tuesday 11 th March 2014

This afternoon we went on a nature walk in a field at the back of our school.

There is a river along the back of our school yard next to the field. We walked along the bank of the river to look for some spring flowers but unfortunately we did not see any snowdrops or primroses.
We did see some buttercups and daisies. We also saw lots of berries on the ivy tree.
We saw a horse chestnut tree that was starting to grow buds. We felt them and they felt a little bit sticky.
We saw a rabbit in the ditch in the distance but they ran away and hid from us. We saw some burrows that looked like rabbits burrows.
At the end of the field where the rivers was flooded we saw lots of frog spawns on the ground. We were able to see the black dots that will develop into tadpoles. Some boys thought they saw a frog.
We saw some ladybirds hiding on some briars in the long grass.
We saw lots of busy birds gathering twigs for their nests. We were able to identify a blue-tit and a robin.
We took lots of pictures of the things we saw during our nature walk.
